Features

Correct lens pincushion/barrel distortion, fisheye distortion, vignetting, perspective distortion.

System Requirements

PTLens runs under Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista with a monitor resolution of at least 1024x768 (DPI 96). You may also run PTLens on Unix under a Windows simulator.

The plug-in version works with Photoshop version 6 and above, all versions of Photoshop Elements, and the German FixFoto. Although PTLens is compatible with Photoshop 5, Paint Shop Pro, and Irfanview camera make, model, lens, and focal length must be manually specified as these applications do not supply EXIF information to plug-ins.

System Requirements

PTLens runs on Intel Mac computers under Mac OS 10.5.2 (Leopard) or later with a monitor resolution of at least 1280x800.

The Aperture plug-in is compatible with Aperture 2.1 or later.

The Lightroom external editor runs on Lightroom 2.0 or later.

For software that runs on both Intel and PPC machines consider my friendly competitor: LensFix.

Zip Compressed Archives

Files that end with a ".zip" suffix are zip archives. A zip archive is simply a file that contains other files. To download and unzip the archive for the PTLens installation do the following:

  • Click on the Download link, above, and save file PTLensInstall.zip file to your hard disk.
  • Right-click on the Windows Start button and choose Explore to run Windows Explorer.
  • Navigate to file PTLensInstall.zip.
  • Right-click on file PTLensInstall.zip and choose "Extract All".
  • This will create a subdirectory called PTLensInstall that contains the distribution.

Please view the ReadMe.html file for installation instructions.

DMG Compressed Archives

Files that end with a ".dmg" suffix are disk images that contain other files. When you download a DMG file it will appear as an extra drive on your desktop and Finder will automatically open to display the contents of the DMG file.

To install software drag the files to the appropriate installation directory. For example, to install the standalone version drag file PTLens.app to the /Applications directory. An /Applications directory link is provided for your convenience.

Please view the ReadMe.rtf file for installation instructions.

When installation is finished close the Finder window, Control-click on the DMG drive that's on your desktop, and choose Eject. The original DMG file, stored in your Downloads folder, may be deleted after installation.

Calibration

If PTLens does not recognize your camera or lens you can help. Calibrations for cameras and lenses are based on images submitted by users. You submit the images and I'll do the calibration for free. If you plan to submit images be sure to read instructions for taking calibration images.

International Support

Several languages are supported for both the dialog box and PTLens Manual. Choose the Options button in PTLens to change the display language for the dialog box. The PTLens Manual is found in the main dialog box under menu Help > PTLens Help. This manual has been translated to several languages and an alternative version may be downloaded below.

Dialog Box. The following languages are supported: Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese (PRC), Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, Greek, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovenian, Spanish (Spain), Swedish, and Turkish. If you want to translate the Html Help file to your language pease give feedback. If you are running PTLens under Unix, and have difficulty reading PTLens help (Help > PTLens Help), then install a standalone chm viewer such as kchmviewer. The Help.chm file may be found in the installation directory.

Help (Mac). The Mac help file is in PDF format. Unfortunately PDF files do not display foreign (non-English) text in a satisfactory manner. For this reason the Mac help file is only available in English.

3rd Party Applications

In addition to PTLens, the following applications can access the PTLens database: BreezeBrowser Pro (PC), Radcor (PC), and LensFix (Mac). Download the latest database and consult with your vendor for installation instructions. PTLens users should download the PTLens installation, using the link at the top of the page, to upgrade to the latest database.
